Leadership and Management Development Training
In the South African business context, we often mistake a job title for leadership. We assume that because someone is a "Manager," people will automatically listen to them. But as you may have already discovered, people might obey a manager because they have to, but they follow a leader because they want to.
This 4-to-6-week training programme is designed to bridge the gap between being a "boss" and being an authentic leader. It equips delegates with practical tools to transition from standard management practices to inspirational leadership. By analysing core leadership theories, emotional intelligence (EQ), and conflict resolution, learners will understand how to motivate diverse teams and drive organisational performance through influence rather than authority.
Business Management Module
Step into the "engine room" of your business. Designed as an elective to follow on from the core Leadership and Management Development Training Course, this module highlights that while leadership focuses on inspiring people, management is about driving processes, systems, and efficiency. Tailored for the demanding South African environment, this course offers a practical toolkit aimed at helping you optimise daily operations. It explores the POLC framework, root-cause problem solving, budget awareness, and the core principles of Total Quality Management (TQM). By the end of this module, you will have reviewed key strategies designed to help you reduce workplace waste, navigate operational challenges, and support consistent, quality results.
Corporate Governance & Business Management Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development Training Course, this module introduces learners to the corporate governance and strategic management environment in South Africa.
In today's private sector, managers are expected to champion the "Triple Bottom Line" - Profit, People, and Planet - while navigating complex legal and ethical frameworks. This course explores the legislation that impacts daily managerial decisions, including the Companies Act, the King IV Report, the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), POPIA, and PRECCA.
Alongside these compliance frameworks, the module covers strategic planning and performance tools such as the Balanced Scorecard, Departmental Risk Registers, and ESG reporting.
Farming Management (Agri-Business) Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development Training Course, this module explores the specialist environment of agricultural business management in South Africa.
Farming is a highly regulated sector where managers must navigate unpredictable weather, fluctuating markets, strict labour legislation, and demanding cash-flow cycles. This course contextualises core leadership principles for the agricultural environment, discussing the transition from a traditional producer to a strategic agri-business manager. The curriculum covers the legal structuring of a farm entity, production planning, agricultural finance, farm worker rights, and risk management frameworks such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Human Resources Management
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the highly regulated environment of human resources management and South African labour law. In this landscape, a single procedural error during an interview, a disciplinary process, or a performance review can expose a business to significant financial and reputational risk at the CCMA. Ignorance of the law is not a valid defence.
This course contextualises your foundational leadership skills within strict legal frameworks. It covers the practical application of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), the Labour Relations Act (LRA), and the Employment Equity Act (EEA) alongside daily HR operations. The curriculum addresses legally compliant recruitment, managing poor performance through structured improvement plans, and conducting fair disciplinary hearings. This module is intended for line managers, supervisors, HR officers, and small business owners seeking to lead their teams effectively while safely navigating the boundaries of South African labour legislation.
Local Government Management Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the specialist environment of South African local government management.
Local government is the sphere closest to the people - the operational level where essential service delivery actually happens. In this environment, ethical leadership and management principles are governed by strict constitutional and legislative frameworks. Operational decisions that might merely breach internal policy in the private sector can carry severe legal, financial, and community consequences within a municipality.
This course contextualises your core leadership skills within municipal law. The curriculum looks at the constitutional mandate of local government, the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) process, the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), and public participation requirements. It also examines municipal performance management, the "Back to Basics" approach, and the critical separation of powers between the Political Council and the Administration.
This module is intended for municipal officials, ward councillors, and administrators seeking to navigate the complex regulatory landscape of local governance, service delivery, and public finance.
Management Assistant Module
Designed as a direct continuation of the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the specialist environment of office administration and executive support.
Move past the dangerous corporate misconception that administrative work is simply typing and making coffee. A highly skilled Management Assistant acts as the "oil in the engine" of any successful department. Even with the best executive strategy in place, a business can falter if daily administration fails, sensitive data is exposed, or clients are treated unprofessionally.
This course contextualises foundational leadership skills - such as emotional intelligence, active listening, and effective communication - within the daily demands of executive support. The module examines professional office etiquette, information management and POPIA compliance, meeting coordination and minute-taking, complex travel arrangements, and the drafting of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Marketing Management Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the specialist environment of marketing management and commercial strategy.
The course highlights how foundational leadership skills - such as emotional intelligence, empathy, and understanding human motivation - translate directly into effective marketing. Moving beyond basic advertising and social media, true marketing requires a deep understanding of consumer needs, particularly within South Africa’s highly complex, diverse, and strictly regulated "dual economy."
This module examines practical marketing frameworks, including SWOT and PESTLE analyses, customer segmentation, buyer persona development, and the 4 Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion). It also discusses digital marketing strategies, sales funnel management, customer relationship management (CRM), service recovery, and how to measure Return on Investment (ROI).
This course is intended for Sales Managers, Marketing Assistants, Entrepreneurs, and Small Business Owners seeking to apply core leadership principles to strategic marketing and customer service environments.
Project Management for Non-Project Managers Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the practical discipline of project management for non-specialist managers.
In the South African business environment, leaders are frequently tasked with delivering workplace initiatives - such as system implementations or office relocations - without formal project management training. This course highlights how foundational people-focused leadership skills, like effective delegation and team development, naturally extend into project management.
Rather than focusing on complex PMP certification jargon, this module offers a practical toolkit for the "accidental project manager." The curriculum examines the difference between projects and operations, the Triple Constraint framework, and the four project lifecycle phases. It also introduces planning and execution tools such as the Project Charter, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Critical Path scheduling, Gantt charts, risk management, and digital project tools.
This course is intended for Managers, Team Leaders, and Supervisors seeking to integrate core leadership frameworks with practical project execution.
Public Management Module
Designed as an elective supplement to the core Leadership and Management Development programme, this module explores the specialist environment of South African public sector management and administration.
Working in the public sector is a constitutional mandate where the bottom line is service delivery rather than profit. This course contextualises foundational leadership skills - such as emotional intelligence, ethical accountability, and objective performance management - within the strict legislative frameworks of government administration.
The curriculum covers Chapter 10 of the Constitution, the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), anti-corruption obligations, and the eight Batho Pele principles for citizen-centric service delivery. It also examines the "Golden Thread" of strategic planning, illustrating how daily administrative work and individual Performance Agreements align with the broader goals of the National Development Plan (NDP).
This module is intended for Public Sector Officials, Administrators, and Junior Managers in National and Provincial Departments seeking to align their operational roles with public administration law, financial compliance, and ethical service delivery.
